Introduction video
ASS (*Auto Sensing Support)
The ASS function is our proprietary exposure control technology.
Two streams are output from a single camera, each with independent exposure control.
Compared with existing HDR functions, this enables two types of exposure control (S1 and S2) according to the user's image processing, contributing to improved image processing accuracy.
■Double ASS
Two streams are output vertically and vertically.
If one stream is 1280 × 720 in size, the camera outputs a 1280 × 1440 image with a doubled vertical.

■Single ASS
Two streams are output alternately.
If one stream has a frame rate of 15 fps, the camera outputs an doubled 30 fps image.

ASS Example of use 1. (Scenes with significant differences in light and dark.)
For example, automatic exposure can be set independently for S1 for bright areas and S2 for dark spots to capture bright and dark areas simultaneously.
In scenes with significant differences in brightness and darkness, the camera can produce more natural-looking colors than an HDR camera.
■Assuming the license plate is illuminated by headlights on a night road.
Taken by KBCR-S03TUA without using the ASS function.
The left-hand side of the image is white-out, and the right-hand side is partially obscured by black-out.
Taken with HDR camera (KBCR-S02TU)
Overall better visibility but slightly paler colors.
Taken with the ASS function on the KBCR-S03TUA.
Green frame in S1 and the right-hand side of the image in S2 by optimal exposure control. The image is depicted in natural tones.
ASS Example of use 2. (Shooting in dark places, shooting moving objects.)
S1 allows you to set a long exposure time to take bright pictures in dark places, while S2 will enable you to set a short exposure time to take blur-free pictures of moving objects.
In the example below, a barcode attached to a metronome is moved and photographed in the dark.
Taken with a standard camera. The dolls look good, but the barcode is blurred and cannot be read.
Taken with the ASS function on the KBCR-S03TUA.
In S1 (upper part of the image), the doll appears brighter because the exposure time is set for longer. In S2 (lower part of the image), the barcode is not blurred because the exposure time is set to be short.
High Sensitivity
A high-sensitivity image sensor ensures low noise and high color reproduction when shooting in dark locations (Compared to our previous products).

Compact / Shape compatible
The smallest size of our 2M pixels camera module: is 40 x 15 mm.
This size is easily interchangeable with 0.3M pixels (KBCR-S07VU/S07VUE) and 1.2M pixels (KBCR-S03MU) USB camera modules due to form-factor compatibility.
Replacing existing customer products with upgraded versions (2M pixels) is also easy.
